SOLIS – German Design Award 2027 Nominee
Sometimes an award doesn't begin with a certificate, but with an invitation. And that's exactly what we received: our SOLIS solar lamp has been officially nominated for the German Design Award 2027.
It's a moment that fills us with pride and gratitude. The German Design Award is one of the most established and renowned awards in the international design landscape. Presented by the German Design Council since 2012, it identifies pioneering developments in product and communication design as well as in architecture. This year, around 4,000 entries from 57 countries are competing, each selected through a nomination process that demands the highest standards of design quality.
SOLIS in detail
SOLIS stands for what drives us at LUUK Studio: design that lasts. Cordless, solar-powered, dimmable: our lamp combines sculptural form with thoughtful function. Its delicate iron struts cast a play of shadows that sets a new scene every evening. The removable solar module and USB-C charging option make SOLIS independent of sockets, weather and location. Available in five sizes and eight colours, SOLIS finds its place in every home and on every terrace.
It is precisely this approach – reduction over excess, quality over compromise – that an international jury will now assess in Offenbach am Main. Over two days, experts from more than 15 countries come together on site to examine, try out and discuss the submitted projects. No photo can replace this direct encounter with the object.
What happens next
The jury will reach its decision in October 2026, and the German Design Award 2027 will be presented on 29 January 2027. Until then, we're keeping our fingers crossed – and you can already bring the anticipation home with you, with a light that has long since found its own way.
We'll keep you posted.
